IMTS 2004 NEWS RELEASE

Tru Tech Systems, Inc. and Harig Products will be exhibiting their full line of precision grinding machines together at IMTS 2004, in booth #B-6846. On display will be the first-ever, completely Self-Training machines which includes the Self-Training TRU TECH Help Software with many enhancements and added features for 2004. Also new is the TRU TECH 3-Axis CNC Machine Enclosure which will fit all three models of our 3-Axis CNC Precision Grinding Machines! Harig Products will be showing for the first time ever the new and improved Harig EZ-Surf II® Grinding Machine with Talking PC based programmable controls!!

The TRU TECH line of 3-Axis CNC Precision Grinding Machines is offered in three different models, depending on the amount of cross-travel desired. Standard is the 6” travel, and optional is the 7-1/2” and 9” travel. To keep the machine virtually maintenance-free, many components are made from stainless steel to prevent rust and corrosion. A new stainless steel coolant tank with filter system is now standard with all TRU TECH machines.

The TRU TECH 3-Axis system consists of the patented TRU TECH precision grinding unit and work holding accessories, mounted to a sturdy 6 x 18 precision grinder base, complete 3-axis CNC controls, operator station with Pentium IV computer and the Windows-based TRU TECH Pick-N-Place Talking Software.” The machine is used for grinding drill blanks, reamer blanks, core pins, gages, form punches and other types of cylindrical work that requires high precision, for all types of industries, including cutting tools, aerospace, carbide and wear parts, mold and plastics, tool and die, etc. Carbide, HSS, stainless steel, ceramic, exotic alloys and most other materials are easily ground on the TRU TECH machine.

The grinding unit is a highly accurate work holding device, with .000030” standard repeatability, and optional .000005”-.000010” repeatability on the Special Edition model. The units come in either a 3” or 5” model, based on the regulating roll and blade width. The main advantage of the TRU TECH grinding unit is accuracy and ease of use, allowing for fast and easy setup. A new feature for the TRU TECH unit is a solid carbide blade pivot rod and main spindle (Patent Pending). These solid carbide components have made the unit tremendously rigid for fast and high stock removal, and virtually wear proof for longer life.

Many updates have been made to the TRU TECH Pick-N-Place Software” package, which is already considered the most user-friendly machine software available. New for 2004 is the Self-Training Help Software, which is standard with the TRU TECH 3-Axis CNC Grinder. Not only does the machine “talk” the operator through the various stages of the grinding process, but now does much more. Video clips and animations with voice-overs demonstrate and explain just about everything an operator would need to know, from setting up the grinding unit, to creating complex forms, editing, and performing preventive maintenance on the machine. Another new feature in the TRU TECH Pick-N-Place software is the 3D Simulation Function. With this feature it is possible to virtually grind your part on-screen, without actually grinding the part, allowing the user to validate programs and explore "what-if" scenarios (feed rates, side-wheel grinding depth) when programming. Routine maintenance and repairs can now be performed quickly and efficiently by the operator or in-house maintenance technician, reducing downtime and the need for a service technician to visit the customer facility. Items such as encoders, motors, and even relays can be changed quickly and safely by following the on-screen instructions. The Quick Help feature uses computerized technicians, such as “James the Butler” to explain various features and buttons in the software. The TRU TECH Self-Training Help Software teaches inexperienced operators how to grind and operate the machine. Many of the previous software features have been enhanced, such as the Easy Angle Icon, Millimeter (mm) Conversion, Back Taper Icon and Highlighted In-Cycle Moves. At any time, a new operator can learn the machine, and others can be cross-trained. Companies now have the freedom to train operators in their own facility at their own pace, reducing costly travel expenses. The maintenance and training features of the software are helpful to companies that are ISO or QS certified, or in the process of certification.

While some companies may still prefer the personal touch, TRU TECH still offers one-on-one service and welcomes customers to visit their training facility at any time. With the machine comes a full staff of technicians available for service and training assistance. A two-year warranty on all parts and labor is now standard with every TRU TECH 3-Axis CNC Grinding Machine.
A new 3-Axis Enclosure is now available that integrates with all three models of the TRU TECH 3-Axis CNC Grinding Machines. No more rags or messy work areas!! Setup only takes a few minutes and can be done prior to the machine being delivered to the customer’s facility. If you already have an existing machine, no problem! The Enclosure fits new and existing machines and includes all mounting hardware with instructions. The Enclosure is made of rigid steel construction with Lexan windows and sliding door.

The Harig EZ-Surf II® Surface Grinder has many enhancements and new features for 2004. The EZ-Surf II® Pick-N-Place Software makes programming fast and easy. Drag and drop your moves, enter your values and Grind. It’s that EZ! You can edit the machine in 10 millionths increments with a click of the mouse. It has a precision programmable 3rd axis and includes a continuous duty spindle motor with variable speed (1,000 to 5,000 RPM).

Also on display at IMTS will be the TRU TECH Precision CNC OD/ID Grinder, TRU TECH Precision CNC 3-Axis Grinding Machine with ID attachment, Harig Ballway Surface Grinder and Harig Hand Feed Surface Grinder.
